What is the Purpose of Boot Gaiters?
Over the past couple of years, we’ve had a lot of deep snowfalls. It would be helpful to have protection on my legs when walking through wet or snow-covered areas. During warmer months, I want my legs covered so I can minimize the risk of ticks getting on me.

Protection Against Moisture and Debris
Gaiters are a clothing accessory used when hiking or walking through snow, sand, mud, or wet vegetation. The Winis Breathable Gaiters are made of durable oxford cloth that is breathable and waterproof. They protect your legs from debris such as dirt, gravel, thorns, and weed burrs.
Protection Against Ticks, Mosquitos, and Other Biting Insects
In addition to long pants and socks, boot gaiters keep biting insects like ticks away from your feet, legs, and ankles.
Protection Against Snakes
Although boot gaiters are not 100% snake-proof, they provide an extra layer of material that makes it difficult for snake fangs to penetrate.
How Do the Winis Breathable Gaiters Fit?
Using the Winis Breathable Gaiters with Boots vs. Tennis Shoes
I am 5′ 1″. Unfortunately, I found that the gaiters were too loose when wearing tennis shoes. However, they fit when I switched to boots.
The gaiters fell just under my knees when I used them with boots. However, they were a few inches under Matt’s knees when he wore them.
How Do the Gaiters Stay in Place?
To put the breathable gaiters on, you place your foot on the bottom strap and wrap them around your leg. A velcro section from top to bottom opens so that you can fit the gaiters over your pants and wrap them as tightly or loosely as you’d like.
The adjustable cinch at the top provides a snug fit. There is also a metal clip that attaches to your laces. This keeps the gaiters in place over your boots.
