Why We Use Chewy for Our Cat Supplies

How We Save Time and Money Buying PEt Supplies

Has this ever happened to you?

– You found yourself rushing to the local pet supply store to purchase cat litter or food right before they closed.

– You arrived at your local pet supply store only to find that they are sold out of what your cat needs.

Why We Order from Chewy

When we moved back to Virginia last year, we were shocked to see that the cat litter that was about $14 in NC was $20 in VA. We have six cats so we go through a minimum of 80lbs of Nature’s Miracle Cat Litter and Feline Pine Cat Litter each month. We have 4 giant litter boxes, 3 corner litter boxes, and another litter box with high sides for our senior cat. One of our cats, Raven, was diagnosed with diabetes in April 2018. Raven eats only prescription Royal Canin Glycobalance dry food and high-protein wet food. When shopping for the best price on his diabetic food, I found that I could save 5% -10% when using Autoship with Chewy. As long as our Autoship order is $49 or more, we get free shipping.

We also order filters for the Pagoda Pet Fountain. The carbon filters are only $4.46 with Autoship. I’d have to go back and look at our receipts, but I believe we were spending about $10 on these at PetSmart. We use water fountains for our cats for health reasons but also to prevent them from knocking over their water bowls. We also purchased the Drinkwell 360 Pet Fountain for our senior cat. She’s more comfortable drinking from a taller fountain.

We receive our pet supplies every 2 weeks unless I need to adjust the shipment date. You can make an adjustment to your shipment date if you’ll be out of town or need something sooner. An email reminder is sent prior to our credit card getting charged. After the shipment has been prepared, we receive another email with tracking information.

You can get free shipping and 30% off on your first order of $49.

Good Customer Service

When I placed our first order with Chewy, I requested a prescription dry food for diabetic cats. I called immediately after placing the order with a question and they were able to assist me. They also let me know that they had already contacted my vet via fax to confirm Raven’s prescription.

A few weeks ago, my cat litter was not available. I’ve been ordering through their site since earlier last year and this was the first time this happened. They emailed me to let me know that they sent out the cat food so we wouldn’t experience a delay. They said I could pick another brand and they would ship it to me for free. (We had enough litter, so I opted to wait until our next shipment.) Since then we were able to find another brand through their site for the same price.

Also, we received a handwritten welcome card and Christmas card from them. That’s just above and beyond from an online retailer.

Cat Favorites from Chewy

Save Money on Pet Supplies with Chewy

Boxes, boxes, boxes… and brown paper! Cats can never have too many boxes.

Cat Trees – You can read our reviews of two cat trees we purchased from Chewy here and here.

Jackson Galaxy Comfy Cocoon – We (and our cats) love Jackson Galaxy products.

ThunderShirt Anxiety and Calming Aid – Meisha (our senior cat) kept grooming her fur to the point she had bald spots. After a trip to the vet, we concluded that it was due to anxiety.

Play-N-Squeak Plush Mouse – Raven was actually scared of this when we first got it, but now he loves it. The cats love to stab it with their claws and pounce on it.

PetStages Toys – Our cats have the Fresh Breath Mint Stick Toy and the Catnip Plaque Pretzel Toy. When Raven was in the hospital, Matt purchased a Magic Mightie Mouse. The vet techs made sure it was always with him.

OurPets Cosmic Cat Toy – It looks like Chewy just has the hot pepper and cactus toys, but there’s an entire collection of Cosmic Catnip Toys. Our cats have two snake toys.

Wubba Mouse Cat Toy – This is one of Mama Grace’s favorites. She loves biting and kicking her toys.

Kickeroos – We’ve purchased several kickeroos over the years. If your cat likes to play aggressively, these are a good tool to safely play with them. When they’re done kicking and biting, they can use it as a pillow.
