I spent quite some time browsing the selection of aprons from Two Lumps of Sugar. Each of the apron designs are uniquely designed by their artists so you will not find the patterns used by other companies.
Although there were many patterns available, I chose the Sprig Stripe Hip Apron because it matched my gardening gloves and it had a few of my favorite colors. There are several accessories that match the aprons. If I wanted to use my apron in the kitchen, I could get a coordinating oven mitt and potholder set.
One of my favorite features of the hip apron is the adjustable neck strap. Especially if I have a collar on my shirt, I tend to get uncomfortable when the plastic neck strap adjuster rubs on the back of my collar. The hip apron does not use a plastic adjuster but instead has one piece of fabric that is used for both the neck strap and waist ties. Because the fabric piece is very long, the hip apron can be adjusted to fit most sizes.
The hip apron is lightly laminated. I use the word lightly because I do not want to give the impression that it’s like vinyl. When you’re wearing the apron, it still feels like regular cotton. This extra coating helps prevent your clothes from getting wet as you are working.
The large utility pockets are the main reason that this hip apron works so well for gardening. A few weeks ago, I was carrying twine, bamboo sticks, and scissors around the garden. After I cut the twine, I didn’t have anywhere to put the scissors, so I balanced them on top of a tomato stake. I had my gardening gloves on another stake. I typically spend several minutes collecting my tools from around the garden before I go inside. It’s a regular occurrence that I leave items in the garden by accident.
The pockets were also at just the right position so that I could bend down without having the contents in the pockets get in the way. In this picture, I have my house keys and cell phone in the pockets.
You’ll also find tote bags, baby items, travel accessories, and several gift items on the Two Lumps of Sugar website. I’ve selected a couple of my favorite items from their store to share with you.
The Sunday Spring Lumper is made from recycled materials and can be used as a storage bin, recycle bin, or clothes hamper. It is collapsible and also includes handles so that you can easily carry it around. You can also select from several other storage options such as under-the-bed storage boxes, closet cubes, and magnetic collapsible boxes.
The Pretty Paisley Baby Bag with Changing Pad not only serves as a stylish bag to tote all of your child’s items in, but it offers the convenience of being able to change diapers wherever you may find yourself without a changing area. It has several pockets designed to fit bottles and has a comfortable shoulder strap.
