Slice uses ceramic blades for many of their specially designed cutters. The hardness of ceramic is only two steps lower than diamond on the Mols hardness scale. This allows blades to provide sharper edges and go without sharpening for a longer period of time. In addition to being more durable, ceramic blades are also resistant to rust and bacteria.
Slice offers a selection of office, beauty, and household cutters and instruments. TJ Scimone founded Slice in 2008 in order to fund the care of his autistic son, Alex. The award-winning Slice design team includes a diverse mixture of talents and specialties.
Review of Slice™ Safety Cutter
I was recently given the opportunity to try the Slice™ Safety Cutter. The cutter allows you to remove shrink-wrap and plastic packaging by using a tiny ceramic blade. The blade is encased in plastic and only about 1 millimeter is exposed. If you touch the blade or drop the cutter, you don’t have to worry about gouging yourself.
I liked the ease of being able to hold the cutter. The cutter has a non-slip finish so it’s easy to grip as you make cuts. You can easily use it if you’re left or right-handed. If you have difficulty managing scissors because of arthritis or dexterity problems, the cutter provides a more comfortable option.
The Slice™ Safety Cutter can also be used for couponing. By pressing firmly, you can easily cut a coupon from a newspaper insert. When I cut a few coupons from my insert, I was able to cut coupons from single pages without the cuts going through on multiple pages. The harder you press, the more pages you can go through.
The cutter is relatively flat and stores easily in one of my kitchen drawers. I like the fact that it doesn’t take up as much space as scissors. It also includes a key-ring hole and is magnetized.
If you would like to make a purchase from slice, you can visit the website at www.sliceproducts.com. Slice donates 1% of sales to various autism research programs.
