Today I had the opportunity to try Skillet Bacon Jam – a bacon spread condiment. I was excited to announce to my friends that came over this weekend that I received the sample. We had actually given one our friends a bacon themed Christmas gift but did not know of this product at the time.
Established in 2007 by Chef Josh Henderson, Skillet Bacon Jam was first introduced to bacon lovers in Seattle, Washington. In 2011, Skillet Street Food expanded from selling from an Airstream trailor to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Seattle. I decided to make a grilled Gouda cheese sandwich with some lunch meat that I needed to use. I also added some tomatoes. You can see the Skillet Bacon Jam is a thick spread. There are actual pieces of bacon mixed with spices, onion, and sugar. Although this is a sample size container, you can purchase a 10.5oz jar or gift set. I found that I actually didn’t need very much of the spread on my sandwich so I expect that my sample will stretch out over several recipes.
I added the spread before I melted the cheese.
When I tried my sandwich, I thought the Bacon Skillet Jam complimented the flavor of the grilled cheese sandwich. I’d like to try a few more recipes such as:
