10 Ways to Earn Money from Home

10 Ways to Earn Money Online

Here is a list of 10 ways that you can earn money from home. Bookmark this page because I will be updating it with additional information.

Blogging

Because your goal will be to earn money online, I recommend creating a WordPress blog. WordPress is much more flexible and can grow as your site needs change. You can get started with a hosting plan for $3.95/month and a domain costs $10-$15. Blogging is one of the slower methods of earning money from home. However, after you write several high quality articles, you can earn money from referring people to websites (affiliate marketing), ads, selling services, sponsored posts, and more. One of my favorite things to do is write product reviews.

I recommend WordPress templates that are built using the Genesis Framework by StudioPress and you can read why here.

Online Surveys

You can earn money from home by completing online surveys. Companies work with survey takers to get user feedback so they can improve their products and services. Some survey sites offer rewards such as gift cards and others provide payments through PayPal or checks. Completing surveys online is more for fun while watching TV.

Sell Photos

Selling stock photos online is a great way to earn money from home. Bloggers and businesses are looking for photos to use on their sites and social media pages. If you have Photoshop skills, you can take your photos a step further and offer editable photos called mockups. See an example of a photo bundle here and a mockup here.

Become a Virtual Assistant

You can work from home as a virtual assistant. Many small business owners are looking for someone to help them with appointment scheduling, social media management, graphic design, proofreading, travel booking, and email management. You will need a website to advertise your services.

Sell Digital Products

Selling digital products is one way to earn extra money online. For the most part, selling digital products can be a passive income source. You will need to spend time with marketing and responding to customer questions, though.

Ideas for digital products that you can sell online:

  • Clipart and Cutting Files
  • Printable Art
  • Printable Invitations
  • Editable PDF or Excel Files
  • Printable Planners & Stickers
  • Craft patterns

Software suggestions for making digital products:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Microsoft Office

Here are some places that you can list your digital products for sale:

  • Shopify
  • Etsy
  • The Hungry JPEG
  • Design Bundles
  • Teachers Pay Teachers
  • WordPress E-Commerce Site

As you decide where you’d like to list your digital products, you should consider the following:

  • Fees for monthly subscriptions, listings, transactions, advertising, and payment processing.
  • What is your technical background and how much time do you want to dedicate to learning the ins and outs of running your own site?
  • Your advertising budget and time for building traffic to your products. (If you use Shopify or your own e-commerce site, you’ll be responsible for all of the traffic through social media, search engines, etc.)

Sell Online Courses

You can make online courses in a variety of formats such as written materials, video, and audio.

Where to Sell Courses:

  • Skillshare
  • Teachable
  • Udemy

Sell Print on Demand Products

You can build an online business using a company to print and ship your products. Rather than paying for printing and supplies upfront, your products will be printed after orders are placed online. You can receive payment first and then send the order information to a print on demand partner. After the product is produced, they will ship it for you. You can create a store on Shopify or Etsy. Print on demand companies such as Printful can connect to your shop so you can automate most of this process.

You can also consider opening a print on demand shop on Zazzle. With Zazzle, you can open a free shop and list products that will be printed and shipped for you. Because they handle customer service, this option will not require as much of your time.

Reselling Products

You can browse chain stores for deals and resell the products you find on Ebay or Amazon. If you shop online, you can increase your profit by using cash back sites such as Ebates and online coupon codes. You will need to consider storage space and the time required to research and shop.

Your community may have a designated area at the dump where people leave items that are still good enough to use. You can clean and fix items and resell them.

Freelance Writing

As a freelance writer, you can get paid to write blog posts, eBooks, essays, product descriptions, magazine articles, books, website content, and so much more. Starting a blog is a good way to feature your writing and find clients. Many freelance writers will also accept free or low payment writing jobs to showcase in their portfolio.
