Cave Tools was founded by Michael O’Donnell in 2013. His mission was to provide high-quality barbeque and cooking tools while providing superior customer service. They offer over 50 product lines to customers on their website and other major e-commerce sites.
As you browse through their site, it’s very clear that they encourage customer feedback and want to make the online shopping experience easy. Although they primarily sell online, their goal is to provide an experience similar to what you’d have in person.
We had the opportunity to review their Burger Press. The press arrived in a cardboard box with the product photo. The only assembly required was screwing in the handle.
When making burgers in the past, I formed burger patties by pressing the meat between two sheets of plastic cling wrap. This typically resulted in uneven size patties. With the Burger Press, I just portioned out the meat and pressed them between the provided burger papers. (They provided 200 burger papers with the burger press.) The papers are square so you can use the edges to lift the patty out of the press. The handle of the press was comfortable and made the process easy.
The press is designed to make burgers up to 1/3 pound. There is a marking inside the press as a guide for making a 1/4 pound burger. A tip in the press instructions said to use your thumb to create an indentation in the patty. This helps keep it flat while grilling. Cleanup of the press is quick. You can wash it by hand or put it on the top rack of a dishwasher.
You can download their free recipe book with step-by-step instructions and videos. They even took it a step further by providing free content through the Grill Master University. This section of their site is packed with information and video tutorials about grilling. You can also download the handy internal meat temperature guide.
