For generations, the family of Yuval Zaliouk enjoyed his grandmother Dina’s Petit Gateau Sec. The recipe for these crunchy wafers with natural and healthy ingredients was once closely guarded. Late in her life, Dina shared the secret recipe with her daughter Ahuda. With her blessing, Zaliouk began making the nutritious cookie in his Ohio kitchen in 1989. Meeting the growing demands of families looking for nutritious snack alternatives, his company began offering Almondina Brand Biscuits in all fifty states and seven foreign countries.
After the international popularity of their cookies, they introduced Toastees. Toastees are twice baked almond crisps with simple ingredients. They have no cholesterol, no added fat, salt, trans fat, or preservatives. With 1 to 2 grams of protein and only 60-70 calories per serving, they make a great snack.
There are four flavors of Toastees: Cranberry Almond, Coconut Orange Almond, Lemon Poppy Almond, and Sesame Almond.
Almondina provided us with a variety pack so we could try each flavor. They aren’t too dense even though they are packed with almonds. Our favorite flavor was Cranberry Almond. As you can see in the photos, each piece has a generous amount of cranberry pieces. Although we ate them right out of the bag, you can dip them in a beverage such as tea or coffee. You can also pair them with dip or cheese. If you crumble them, you can add them to ice cream or yogurt.
