The AGPtek HL0163-1-1 LED Tracing Light Pad is a tool for artists or people that are learning to draw. If you work with vinyl, it would also work for weeding. In addition to using it for clipart designs, I’d like to use it to practice calligraphy tutorials I’ve found online.
We received the A4 light pad that is 36×24 cm (17-inches diagonal measurement). To power the tracing pad, you can either use the AC adapter and plug it into an outlet or connect it to your computer using the provided USB cord. Although it has a USB cord, it does not transfer images to your computer.
The pad is lightweight and thin. The tracing surface is made of acrylic and there is a ruler across the sides of the tracing area. The tracing pad does not have a way to hold the image you’re tracing in place. Because you draw directly on paper, you do not need a special stylus. It also doesn’t have built-in slots for drawing tools. Depending on what’s most comfortable for you, you might prefer to have an adjustable tracing pad. The AGPtek is intended to stay flat on a table.
The light has multiple brightness settings. I found that even the lowest setting was bright enough for tracing. I kept the light pad on for about 30 minutes and didn’t notice that it got too warm. I also did not notice any problems with the individual LED lights blinking or having uneven light distribution.
