This summer I have ruined two pairs of shoes when working in our garden. The first pair was my only pair of tennis shoes that I wore while we spread manure throughout our garden. My second pair was an old pair of slip-ons that are now a permanent shade of orange from Virginia red clay. We have several pairs of shoes stacked by our kitchen door with dried mud. Without a designated place to put coats, bags, and hats in our home, our entry area was always cluttered. Our couch and kitchen chairs were often the first place we put our coats. Each of our closets are currently overfilled which is part of the reason that we needed a storage solution for our entry space.
